About The Position

The AE 2100 Application Engineer will answer questions from the customer on engines in the field and interface with the larger engineering community to provide timely answers. Additionally, the AE 2100 Application Engineer role may create Investigation Requests (IRs) to address field issues that require engineering changes and shepherding those IRs through the change process. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 5+ years of experience, OR Master’s degree in Engineering with 3+ years of experience, OR PhD in degree in Engineering
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain security clearance, which requires USA Citizenship

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated ability to form customer relationships based on technical knowledge and working with the customer to solve engineering problems.
  • Understanding military end-users’ needs and working to solve technical issues to support the warfighter.
  • Aerospace Background: deep knowledge of gas turbine engine components, performance, and controls.
  • Professional Certifications: FAA Airframe & Powerplant license (not required to be current) or other mechanical background in repairing or replacing engine components.
  • Safety & Reliability: understanding how to apply Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analyses to prioritize work on component or system issues.
  • Airworthiness & Service: familiarity with FAA and/or military airworthiness regulations and the process of supporting the implementation of Service Bulletins or Technical Variances.
  • Stakeholder Management: confidence in presenting technical briefings to high-level OEMs, military customers, and operators.
  • Change Management: experience in shepherding projects through the change process from initiation through implementation through Product Change Board (PCB) or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with airframers to solve production issues.
  • Work with airframers and military end-users as issues are discovered in the fleet by providing technical information and working on solutions.
  • Occasional travel both domestically and internationally is expected.
  • Be both a trusted technical point of contact for engineers at airframers as well as provide timely information to senior management regarding high priority issues for escalation.
  • Create Investigation Requests (IRs) to address field issues or production shortfalls that require engineering changes and shepherd those IRs through the change process.
