About The Position

This role involves developing software as a member of Niche's technical team, creating n-tier client-server software for law enforcement agencies. Co-op students will implement change requests that are deployed to customer implementations of NicheRMS and used in the daily activities of law enforcement officers and support staff. Students will be exposed to advanced techniques in RDBMS and middleware design and implementation, as well as Windows, .NET, and Web UI application development. They will improve their coding skills through structured code reviews and mentoring, gain experience with a large codebase, and integrate their work into the Niche git repository using industry-standard tools like Microsoft Visual Studio (C++, C#, .NET), Windows Server, and Microsoft SQL Server.

Requirements

• Must be a student in the University of Manitoba Computer Science Co-op program.
• Interest and enthusiasm for developing modern, easy-to-use software is essential.
• A desire to learn and improve as a developer is also crucial.
• Must be able to obtain security clearance.
• Must be a Canadian citizen or have PR status.
• Must have no indictable offense/felony convictions.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with relational databases and UI design is advantageous.
