About The Position

TOPPAN Packaging Americas specializes in designing and manufacturing sustainable, high-performance flexible and thermoformed packaging solutions for the food, beverage, medical and consumer goods industries. We offer products like transparent high barrier films, pouches, clamshells and trays, utilizing advanced technology to enhance product safety, visibility and environmental sustainability. TOPPAN Packaging Americas operates as part of the global TOPPAN group, with 22 manufacturing facilities across North America, Latin America and Europe. The Database Administrator is responsible for overseeing the management, maintenance, and support of all databases within the environment (SQL Server, Progress, Oracle, etc…). This includes the implementation and management of database backups and recovery strategies, collaborating with MSP and development teams to support database related tasks as well as performing database performance tuning and optimization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant years of experience.
  • Expertise in SQL Server (2014/2019/2022/2025/MI) configuration, administration, maintenance, and optimization.
  • Hands on experience in database backup, restore and disaster recovery planning.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including developers, system administrators, and business analysts to implement and troubleshoot database solutions that meet organizational needs.
  • 5-10+ years as a Database Administrator in a production environment (SQL Server and Progress DB required).
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
  • Ability to travel, including international travel.

  • Understanding of cloud-based databases is a plus.
  • Experience with Windows operating system is a plus.
  • Experience with VM/Cloud based a plus.
  • PowerShell & DBA Automation a plus.
  • AI-Assisted Operations & Script Optimization a plus.
  • Previous experience in leading complex Information Security projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Plan and execute database and server upgrades, patches, and migrations with minimum downtime.
  • Manage, monitor, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases to ensure high availability and reliability.
  • Serve as DBMS subject matter expert on team with developers, system administrators, and business analysts to support application development and troubleshooting.
  • Optimize database performance through indexing, query tuning and system resource management while keeping overall performance balanced and at high availability.
  • Utilize monitoring tools to proactively identify and resolve performance and reliability issues.
  • Perform other duties as required.
