About The Position

The Appliance Specialist will evaluate client appliances for energy efficiency upgrades, provide educational information regarding the benefits of saving energy, and facilitate and monitor appliance orders through grantors and vendors.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Possess or will train for all necessary licenses and/or certifications as mandated by Weatherization Grantors.
  • Knowledge of heating systems, insulation procedures, energy efficiency measures and related areas.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and valid vehicle insurance.
  • Willingness to undergo a thorough criminal background screening and an annual driver’s record check.
  • Ability to perform basic math problems and equations.
  • Ability to reason rationally.
  • Ability to perform the duties of the job.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and oral form.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in In-service, Orientation, Supervision and Staff Meetings.
  • Attend relevant training/conferences as requested/directed by the President/Chief Executive Officer and/or Chief Operating Officer (This may include out-of-state travel).
  • Support the Mission and Vision of Success of the Tri-County Community Action Agency within the community.
  • Identify eligible clients for the Appliance Management Program and Home Energy Appliance Rebate program, schedule same for program services.
  • Conduct site visits to client homes to obtain pictures, measurements, owner’s signatures, and client preference of appliance.
  • Educate client relative to potential energy conservation measures that can be employed in the home.
  • Order and monitor appliances through Hancock Software and forward relative work orders to the contractors/vendors.
  • Keep track of client relations and work orders through file audits and spreadsheets to report to Program Director.
  • Liaise with Westbay Community Action and Office of Energy Resources relative to ordering, client relations, and job completions in Hancock.
  • Monitor program for compliance and goal completion.
