About The Position

Appliance Service Technician I Dalton Service Center | Full-Time | $14.00 per Hour + 32% Commission Build Your Career. Build Your Future. Become an Employee-Owner. Are you mechanically inclined, customer-focused, and ready to build a career in appliance service and repair? Dalton Service Center, part of the BMD Inc. family of companies, is seeking an Appliance Service Technician I to diagnose, repair, uninstall, and reinstall residential appliances. This position performs service work both in our facility and in customers’ homes across a wide range of appliance products and brands.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.
  • Candidates must maintain a clean and satisfactory driving record.
  • Basic computer skills, including email, internet use, and Microsoft Office applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Appliance repair, equipment repair, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or related mechanical experience is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of electrical, gas, plumbing, and mechanical operations is strongly preferred.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while staying connected with dispatch, management, and the service team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to completing work correctly.
  • Ability to manage multiple service calls, changing priorities, and seasonal demand.
  • Experience with customer relationship management or service-management software is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose residential appliance problems and determine the appropriate repair solution.
  • Repair, uninstall, reinstall, and replace components on a variety of appliance products and brands.
  • Perform service work safely, efficiently, accurately, and profitably.
  • Troubleshoot appliance systems involving electrical, gas, plumbing, and mechanical components.
  • Clearly explain findings, repair recommendations, available options, and next steps to customers.
  • Build positive customer relationships through professionalism, reliability, and respectful in-home service.
  • Follow assigned service calls and directions provided by the customer service and dispatch teams.
  • Maintain accurate service records, repair documentation, parts information, and customer updates.
  • Work toward established productivity, revenue, and service-quality expectations.
  • Communicate regularly with senior technicians, dispatchers, managers, manufacturer representatives, and internal partners.
  • Participate in technical training, cross-training, and professional development opportunities.
  • Maintain knowledge of appliance technology, repair practices, tools, industry requirements, and manufacturer standards.
  • Properly operate, protect, and maintain company-issued tools, equipment, and vehicles.
  • Represent Dalton Service Center and Builders Source Inc. professionally in customers’ homes and throughout the community.
