About The Position

SAIC is seeking a senior information engineering professional to design and implement enterprise-wide information systems and AI-enabled solutions that deliver measurable customer value. The role applies information engineering disciplines to plan, analyze, design, and build complex systems, while leading development of AI-based applications, prototypes, and reusable components in Appian. The developer takes concepts from early discovery through proofs of concept and production-grade capabilities. The position combines enterprise systems planning and analysis with hands-on Appian development and AI integration. It includes building Appian workflows and interfaces, connecting AI APIs and cloud services, optimizing AI solution performance and cost, applying security and responsible AI practices, and ensuring compliance with enterprise standards. The role also provides daily supervision, mentoring, and technical direction to staff, and communicates findings and solutions to technical and non-technical audiences.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
12+ years of experience in information systems development, functional and data requirements analysis, systems analysis and design, programming, program design, and documentation.
Intensive and progressive experience managing implementation of information engineering projects.
Intensive and progressive experience in systems analysis, design, and programming.
Intensive and progressive experience in client/server and/or distributed computing environments.
Significant hands-on experience designing, developing, and deploying Appian solutions, including applications, workflows, interfaces, and integrations.
Hands-on Appian development experience.
Experience integrating Appian with REST APIs, microservices, and enterprise systems.
Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments.
Proven managerial and leadership experience providing direction and oversight to technical teams.

Responsibilities

Apply enterprise-wide disciplines to plan, analyze, design, and construct information systems.
Lead information systems development, including functional and data requirements analysis, systems analysis and design, programming oversight, and documentation.
Perform strategic systems planning, business information planning, and business process analysis in support of mission and organizational objectives.
Conduct process and data modeling using manual and automated tools.
Apply reverse engineering and re-engineering disciplines to develop migration strategies and planning documents for legacy-to-target system transitions.
Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture standards and strategies, reusing shared capabilities and platforms where appropriate.
Design and build AI-enabled Appian applications, prototypes, and reusable enterprise components that integrate with existing information systems and data assets.
Configure Appian process models, interfaces, rules, data types, and integrations to implement end-to-end workflows.
Integrate and orchestrate AI APIs and cloud AI services within Appian applications and broader enterprise architectures.
Optimize prompts, model selection, context-window usage, and token consumption to balance accuracy, latency, and cost.
Turn concepts and business problems into proofs of concept and technical prototypes, validate feasibility, and iterate using user and stakeholder feedback.
Implement data protection, security guardrails, and responsible AI practices in alignment with enterprise and customer policies.
Ensure systems, Appian solutions, and AI components comply with applicable standards, security requirements, and governance frameworks.
Contribute best practices, patterns, and reference implementations for information engineering, Appian solution design, and AI-enabled applications.
Provide daily supervision, mentorship, and direction to technical staff, fostering collaboration, professional growth, and high performance.
Provide technical guidance on software engineering techniques, Appian design patterns, AI integration approaches, and automated support tools.
Prepare and deliver clear written materials and formal presentations to technical and non-technical audiences, including senior stakeholders.
