About The Position

APS Medical Billing is seeking an Appeals Claims Processor in Toledo, Ohio. The role helps ensure claims are submitted accurately and on time to minimize days in accounts receivable. The processor follows up on unresolved claims and investigates, identifies, researches, and appeals denied claims. The position also responds to account inquiries and helps resolve issues while complying with CMS and HIPAA requirements.

Requirements

Highly organized and detail-focused.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Problem-solving ability, including identifying issues, providing feedback, and following through to resolution.
Strong computer, typing, and technology skills.

Nice To Haves

Associate’s degree or up to two years of medical billing experience preferred.
Medical Billing Certificate is a plus.

Responsibilities

Monitor aging reports and follow up on overdue accounts.
Follow collection policies and procedures in accordance with established procedures and time schedules.
Follow all CMS requirements.
Work denial reports and provide insurance companies with required information for claims payment.
Submit appeals with supporting documentation when warranted.
Answer account inquiries by phone and mail.
Identify and assist in resolving issues.
Notify management of issues.
Consistently follow and execute HIPAA requirements and standards.
Perform other duties as necessary.
