About The Position

Family Health West (FHW) is a physician-led organization dedicated to transforming the health of communities in Western Colorado. Our 25-bed critical access hospital, located in a vibrant community with abundant outdoor adventures, offers 24/7 emergency services, a comprehensive clinic facility, robust rehabilitation services, and advanced imaging and lab testing. FHW is a well-established multi-specialty practice seeking a team player to develop and grow an orthopedic program. The ideal candidate will enjoy working closely with a multi-specialty group and possess excellent communication skills with patients and colleagues.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Program
  • Unrestricted license to practice in the state of Colorado
  • Unrestricted DEA permit to prescribe medications
  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
  • Immunizations required for employment

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in orthopedics is preferred, but not required
  • Surgical first-assist experience is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive evaluations of patients with hip, knee, and shoulder related injuries and conditions.
  • Assist in the operating room, including preoperative planning, surgical assistance, and postoperative management.
  • Conduct physical examinations, obtain medical histories, and develop treatment plans in collaboration with physicians.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic imaging, laboratory tests, and other diagnostic studies.
  • Provide patient education regarding treatment plans, surgeries, post-operative care, and rehabilitation options.
  • Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with state regulations.
  • Participate in the development of patient care protocols and treatment strategies.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, nurses, and physical therapists, to optimize patient care.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
