Position Overview Carilion Clinic is seeking a dedicated Orthopedic Spine Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our growing Spine Surgery team. This role offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeons in a dynamic, high-volume practice serving a diverse patient population. The APP will provide comprehensive care across the continuum, including outpatient clinic, inpatient rounding, perioperative management, and first assist in the operating room. Why Roanoke? Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
  • Board certification as an NP or PA-C
  • Current Virginia licensure (or eligibility)
  • Strong clinical judgment and excellent communication skills
  • Commitment to high-quality, patient-centered care

Nice To Haves

  • Previous orthopedic or spine experience preferred
  • Surgical first assist experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive history and physical examinations for spine patients
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, imaging, and labs
  • Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans
  • Provide pre-operative and post-operative care
  • First assist in spine surgical procedures
  • Conduct inpatient rounds and coordinate discharge planning
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, and recovery
  • Collaborate with surgeons, nursing staff, therapy services, and care coordination teams
  • Document accurately and timely in the electronic medical record
