(Nurse Practitioner) The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse – Nurse Practitioner is an advanced practice registered nurse with specific education and training in the care of hospitalized patients. He/she is employed by St. Tammany Health System (STHS) for the purpose of coordinating care of hospitalized patients. The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse -Nurse Practitioner works in collaboration with and under the supervision of the Lead Hospital Medicine physician and in association with members of the Hospitalist team in the evaluation, treatment and care coordination of the hospitalized patient in the provider role. A formal collaborative agreement is a requirement. The major area of responsibility is addressing patient clinical issues while hospitalized (floor call) and supporting physicians with the admission of patients to the hospital from emergency room or direct admissions. He/she will work primarily the night shift and alternate other shifts, weekends, and/or holidays as indicated. (Physician Assistant) The Physician Assistant has specific education and training in the care of hospitalized patients. He/she is employed by St. Tammany Health System (STHS) for the purpose of coordinating care of hospitalized patients. The Physician Assistant works in collaboration with and under the supervision of the Lead Hospital Medicine physician and in association with members of the Hospitalist team in the evaluation, treatment and care coordination of the hospitalized patient in the provider role. A formal supervising physician agreement is a requirement. The major area of responsibility is addressing patient clinical issues while in the Clinical Decision Unit (Observation Unit) which includes admission of patients from the emergency room or direct admissions, unit floor calls, and discharge coordination. He/she will work primarily the night shift and alternate other shifts, weekends, and/or holidays as indicated.
