About The Position

Carilion Clinic is seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) to serve as the GI Oncology Service Line Coordinator. This unique leadership opportunity combines direct patient care with program development, quality improvement, APP mentorship, and strategic service line growth. As a key member of our GI Oncology team, you'll collaborate with physicians, APPs, nursing leaders, and multidisciplinary care teams to enhance patient outcomes, drive innovation, and help shape the future of oncology care across our organization.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing and Nurse Practitioner program or an accredited Physician Assistant program required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience preferred.
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Nurse Practitioners must also hold a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia.
  • Must be eligible for prescriptive authority in accordance with state regulations and as authorized by the Virginia Boards of Nursing and Medicine.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications required as appropriate to the position.
  • Must demonstrate and maintain all credentialing and licensing requirements of Carilion Clinic, the Virginia Board of Medicine or Nursing, and applicable certifying bodies.
  • Must meet practice and managed care credentialing requirements and qualify for malpractice insurance coverage.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare providers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records and standard computer systems required.

Nice To Haves

  • Oncology experience preferred.
  • Leadership, quality improvement, or program development experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care within the GI Oncology service line.
  • Serve as a clinical leader, mentor, and resource for APPs.
  • Support APP onboarding, professional development, and workforce planning.
  • Lead quality improvement and operational initiatives.
  • Collaborate on program development, clinical pathways, and service line growth.
  • Partner with multidisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional patient-centered cancer care.
