APP Fellowship - Psychiatry (Adult & Pediatrics)

Washington University in St LouisSaint Louis, WA
Onsite

About The Position

Our Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Fellowship Program offers a unique opportunity for Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNPs) or Physician Assistants (PAs) to advance their expertise in psychiatric care. This 12-month program aims to provide early career PMHNPs and PAs the opportunity to learn from and practice alongside outstanding faculty who have decades of experience training medical students, general psychiatry residents, and child and adolescent psychiatry fellows. The training is geared towards preparing fellows to become clinicians who provide excellent evidence-based psychiatric care in various clinical settings, from community-based care to academic university settings. The program provides some of the same didactic experiences to the APP fellows as physician trainees receive, along with additional didactic experiences tailored to meet the different needs of APPs. Approximately 25% of a fellow’s time is spent on educational activities, with the other 75% dedicated to providing care. Clinically, a fellow will spend 6 months involved with adults and 6 months involved with children and adolescents. Both experiences include 2 months in hospital-based care and 4 months in the outpatient setting.
