About The Position

The Apothecary Pharmacist shall be responsible to provide and coordinate pharmaceutical services for the MCC Apothecary. This individual is responsible to perform both retail and specialty pharmacy operations. The Pharmacist will prepare and dispense prescriptions, prescription compounding, and patient education. Additionally, the Pharmacist will monitor patients, provide purchasing and inventory management, and record-keeping. The Pharmacist is responsible to adhere to good pharmacy practice and maintain strict compliance with all laws and regulations governing the practice of pharmacy as well as maintaining all standards for URAC and ACHC accreditation. This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of Pharmacy or PharmD degree.
At least 3-5 years experience in a retail pharmacy.
Active Pharmacist licensure required.
Alabama Controlled Substance certification required.
Ability to accurately perform computer order entry duties.
Proficient in needed pharmaceutical calculations and the metric system.
Basic knowledge in pharmacokinetic calculations and parenteral nutrition management.
Knowledge of aseptic technique.
Evidence of commitment to continuing education.

Nice To Haves

Experience working in a speciality pharmacy setting preferred.
BPS preferred.
