About The Position

The Summer 2026 Apiary Assistant position at Eden Hall Campus offers students the opportunity to learn basic apiary management. The role involves learning Integrated Pest Management (IPM), understanding hive functions, and performing various maintenance tasks such as hive checks, inventory management, and landscaping, with specific duties dependent on the season and weekly needs. Shifts are 3 hours long, with flexibility based on employee and employer availability. Students can choose up to two shifts per week, either from 9am-12pm or 1pm-4pm, during the academic year. This position is designed for students and does not automatically roll over to subsequent academic years or summers.

Requirements

  • Interest and ability to work as a team
  • Must have no anaphylactic reaction to bee stings for in-field work
  • Should be able to lift 50lbs, accommodations can be made

Responsibilities

  • Assist apiary lead in integrated pest management, seasonal apiary management, pollinator habitat management, and honey production
  • Complete a research-based project with a project or workshop deliverable per semester
