About The Position

The Cloud Engineer (API Management) is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting scalable, secure API ecosystems. This role leverages Google Cloud Platform and Apigee to enable high-performance API services, streamline integrations, and enhance developer accessibility through API marketplace capabilities. The position plays a key role in connecting backend services with consumer applications while ensuring reliability, security, and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 3–5 years of experience in cloud engineering with a focus on API management or API gateway platforms
  • Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including Apigee implementation and support
  • Proven experience managing API marketplaces, developer portals, or similar API ecosystem tools
  • Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Crossplane, or Pulumi
  • Experience with containerization and modern architectures, including Docker, Kubernetes, and microservices frameworks

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement API proxies, security policies, and traffic management solutions using Apigee (Edge or X) to support scalable API architectures
  • Manage API Marketplace and developer portal platforms to enable API discovery, documentation, and self-service capabilities
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for API deployments using tools such as Terraform, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins to support efficient and reliable releases
  • Enforce API security standards including OAuth2, OpenID Connect (OIDC), and JWT while implementing threat protection, rate limiting, and encryption best practices
  • Monitor API performance, latency, and reliability metrics, proactively identifying and resolving issues across distributed systems
  • Partner with application and engineering teams to define API contracts (OpenAPI/Swagger), transformation logic, and integration patterns
  • Create and maintain high-quality technical documentation, including API specifications and developer-facing resources
