About The Position

Seeking an API 653 inspector to conduct Mechanical Integrity inspections on tanks. This role involves performing non-destructive testing (NDT) on components and materials, utilizing various NDT methods, and ensuring adherence to safety regulations and customer requirements. The position requires a flexible schedule, with a typical rotation of three weeks traveling to projects across the Midwest and one week off. Per Diem is provided for working and traveling days. The weekly schedule usually consists of 6 10-hour shifts.

Requirements

  • Expertise in multiple NDT methods and willingness to engage in ongoing learning and application of skills.
  • Understand appropriate use of tools and equipment.
  • Intermediate mechanical knowledge and aptitude.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Able to speak and write clearly.
  • Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, and asking appropriate questions.
  • Able to work a demanding and flexible schedule (3 weeks traveling, 1 week off).
  • Able to frequently lift and carry objects up to 75 pounds on loose, rough or uneven terrain.
  • Able to occasionally exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 150 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to climb and work at heights, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, handle, stand for long periods, walk, push, pull, perform repetitive motion, work in confined spaces, work in extreme cold and heat, possess visual acuity, work near hazards including moving mechanical parts, work near electrical components and exposures to chemicals.
  • Able to adapt to frequent, often daily, changes in the work environment.
  • Professional appearance and conduct – Dress appropriately for the assignment and maintain good hygiene.
  • Customer service skills – Interact professionally with customers. Punctual arrival to assignments.

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Insurability through PROtect, LLC insurance carrier.
  • Certification in API 510, 570, 653 required.
  • Demonstrated NDT skill, knowledge or experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct non-destructive (NDT) testing of components and materials in accordance with applicable codes, standards, equipment utilization, specifications, and procedures.
  • Utilize appropriate NDT method to perform NDT inspections, including API 653, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, ultrasonic, leak testing and visual inspections.
  • Select, prepare, load, calibrate, or operate equipment used in the non-destructive testing of products or materials.
  • Identify defects in materials using appropriate testing technique.
  • Complete documentation, work orders, and reporting thoroughly following established protocols and meeting required timeframes.
  • Drive Company vehicles and maintain safe driving record.
  • Apply safety standards in the work environment, look out for other crew members and other work site personnel.
  • Recognize hazards and provide instruction to assigned assistants.
  • Interact professionally with customers and co-workers.
