About The Position

MISTRAS Group, Inc. is seeking an API 653 Inspector local to the Baytown, TX area for a full-time position. This role involves performing internal and external inspections on equipment to maintain mechanical integrity, visual inspection of completed work, and assisting in scheduling inspection activities. The inspector will also be responsible for using proper safety procedures, completing job-related forms, abiding by company policies, and delivering reports to clients. The work environment includes outdoor plant atmospheres with extreme noise levels and requires wearing required safety equipment.

Requirements

  • Possess the related API 653 certification with 10+ years of related experience.
  • Understanding of traditional NDE.
  • Requires high school diploma or equivalent, technical school or college credits preferred.
  • Must be proficient with MS Word and Excel and be able to write detailed inspection reports.
  • Must have the ability to lift and carry 35 pounds.
  • Capable of climbing, working at high elevations and working in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to walk and climb to maneuver within a refinery or plant environment to include the ability to gain access to elevated platforms via ladders and stairwells.
  • Must have sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits employee to communicate effectively.
  • Must have sufficient vision or other powers of observation, with or without reasonable accommodations, which permits employee to conduct investigations.
  • Must have sufficient manual dexterity, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to perform routine office duties.

  • New construction experience highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform internal and external inspections on equipment at scheduled intervals to maintain the mechanical integrity of the fixed equipment of the refinery.
  • Perform visual inspection of completed work and recommend and approve repairs.
  • Assist in the scheduling of activities related to inspection.
  • Use of proper safety procedures and equipment.
  • Properly use and complete customer and company job related forms and paperwork.
  • Abide by Company policies and procedures.
  • Complete all required training, including tests, within Company guidelines.
  • Perform a variety of tasks, often changing assignments on short notice.
  • Prioritize and complete work assignments by specific deadlines.
  • Deliver reports to clients.
  • Work outdoors in a plant atmosphere.
  • Working in plant and/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels.
  • Wear required safety equipment.
