Teacher Tutors•Livingston, NJ

About The Position

Teacher Tutors is hiring an experienced part-time Humanities tutor to support high school students in honors and AP-level English, history, and social science courses. The role is suited to an educator with extensive AP instruction experience, strong analytical reading and writing skills, and an interest in one-on-one tutoring. Students range from those building core skills to those preparing for demanding AP coursework and exams. Tutoring sessions take place in students’ homes, at a library, at the company’s Livingston, New Jersey office, or online. Most clients prefer in-person tutoring. Families are matched with tutors according to the tutor’s preferred travel radius. The position pays $40–$50 per hour, based on degree and experience. Most part-time tutors join as W-2 employees; 1099 contractor status is also available for tutors who carry their own professional liability insurance and operate through a registered LLC. The company handles payroll, taxes, and liability coverage during sessions for W-2 tutors. Documentation is requested during onboarding. The coverage area is northern New Jersey, with most in-home sessions in Essex, Morris, Union, and Bergen counties.
