Under the general supervision of the School Principal, the Special Education Teacher's purpose is to maximize the learning experience of students with special needs, in academics, interpersonal skills and activities of daily living by implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities, outcomes; addressing students' specific needs; providing a safe and optimal learning environment. This role involves conducting assessments, developing and implementing Individual Educational Plans (IEPs), coordinating with external agencies and internal staff, providing counseling and liaison services to students and parents, and continuously pursuing professional development. The teacher will also manage record-keeping, encourage parental involvement, assist in new teacher orientation, and manage classroom supplies and equipment.
