Answer Engine Optimization (AEO/GEO) Manager

SailPointAustin, TX
$101,400 - $170,864Hybrid

About The Position

The way buyers research and select identity security and IGA platforms is changing fast. A meaningful and growing share of our prospects no longer start with Google search results. They start with prompts for ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or Google's AI Overviews, and they take those answers seriously. Whether a company surfaces in those answers, and how it is described when it does, is an increasingly critical factor for pipeline and brand. This role focuses on Answer Engine Optimization (AEO), also called Generative Engine Optimization (GEO). You will own how SailPoint's brand, products, point of view, and category narrative show up when buyers ask AI engines questions about our space. Traditional SEO does not go away, and you will continue to run that program, but the center of gravity of this role is AEO. You will succeed by setting the strategy, executing the work that lives with you, and influencing SailPoint crew across product marketing, content, communications, customer marketing, web, and analyst relations to do their part. This is an individual contributor role, and you will report directly to the VP of Digital Marketing.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in SEO, digital marketing, or content strategy, preferably in a B2B SaaS environment, with a demonstrated transition into AEO/GEO work.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one AEO/GEO monitoring platform.
  • Hands-on experience with an enterprise SEO platform.
  • Strong technical SEO foundations: schema and structured data, log file analysis, crawler directives, internal linking, page experience signals.
  • Working understanding of how LLMs select, retrieve, and cite content, and how citation behavior differs across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Google AI Overviews, Microsoft Copilot, and Gemini.
  • Real AI fluency. You don't just use ChatGPT or Claude. You build prompts and design workflows that compound your own output. You are comfortable being the most AI-native person in most rooms.
  • Strong analytical instincts. Comfortable in GA4, Search Console, and the analytics inside your monitoring tools.
  • Ability to influence senior cross-functional stakeholders without direct authority, particularly across product marketing, communications, content, and analyst relations.
  • Excellent written communication. You can write briefs other teams want to act on, and you can communicate program performance clearly to executives.
  • A bias toward action. This is a build-from-here role, not a maintain role.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience marketing in identity security, IAM, IGA, cybersecurity, or similar B2B category.
  • Experience contributing to digital PR or earned media programs, and working with analyst relations teams.
  • Direct familiarity with Profound and/or Conductor.
  • A portfolio of "GEO wins" — concrete, documented examples of moving the needle on brand visibility, citation, or sentiment inside answer engines.

Responsibilities

  • Own the AEO/GEO program end to end.
  • Define SailPoint's AEO strategy, roadmap, and quarterly priorities, and align them to pipeline and brand objectives.
  • Build and continuously refine the prompt sets we monitor across the major answer engines: including buyer-stage prompts, category and definitional prompts, product information, and competitive comparisons.
  • Track visibility, citation rate, sentiment, and share-of-model versus competitors.
  • Turn the data into an opinionated point of view about where to invest next.
  • Define program KPIs and report results clearly to marketing leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Partner with digital experience (UX) and paid media to connect SEO/AEO strategy to web campaign performance and pipeline influence.
  • Own international AEO and SEO, collaborating with digital and regional international stakeholders.
  • Run the analytics and tooling stack.
  • Operate our AEO monitoring platform (we currently use Profound) and our SEO platform (we currently use Conductor), and recommend additions or changes as the tooling landscape matures.
  • Conduct prompt-level, platform-level, and competitor-level analysis to understand why answers come back the way they do, and translate findings into specific actions.
  • Working with our analytics specialist, build dashboards and recurring reporting that make AEO performance legible to non-specialists.
  • Influence the content engine across functions.
  • Partner with product marketing, content marketing, and communications to reshape what, how, and where we publish content, and how it is structured for LLM extraction and citation.
  • Drive technical AEO and SEO improvements with the web team: schema markup, structured data, robots and crawler directives, log file analysis, internal linking architecture, passage-level optimization, and Core Web Vitals.
  • Identify content gaps where competitors are recommended over SailPoint, and lead the cross-functional response to close them.
  • Drive off-property influence on the sources LLMs trust.
  • Identify the third-party sources LLMs lean on most heavily when answering questions about our category.
  • Partner with analyst relations, communications, customer marketing, and product marketing to make sure our presence on those surfaces is current, accurate, and well-positioned.
  • Build a systematic program for placement, citation, and entity strengthening on the third-party surfaces that matter.
  • Use AI to move fast.
  • Operate as a power user of LLMs and AI tools to compress content audits, briefs, structured-data work, competitor analysis, and reporting that would otherwise take days.
  • Build internal AI workflows and lightweight automations — custom GPTs, prompt libraries, agent chains, scripts — that let a single-headcount function punch above its weight.
  • Own residual SEO.
  • Continue managing organic search strategy and execution as the supporting program — keyword strategy, on-page optimization, technical SEO, and reporting — with an eye toward where SEO and AEO investments compound.
