About The Position

The Annual Giving Specialist will strategize, organize and implement all aspects of the successful annual fund program in support of the overall annual fundraising goals of the organization. The Specialist will be well organized and have exceptional writing and inter personal skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 1 year fundraising/development experience and/or 2+ years of membership management, sales, marketing or public relations experience in a non-profit organization.
  • Alternate applicable internship or employment experience may be considered.
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License.
  • Knowledge of basic typing skills, data entry and word processing software.
  • Familiarity in database software (preference given to Raiser’s Edge) and general knowledge of Outlook and Microsoft office products is required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Strong written and personal communication skills required.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct all foundation business in an ethical and respectful manner in adherence with the Compliance and Ethics Program.
  • Develop strategies to identify annual donors, maintain consistent giving frequencies, and grow gift amounts year over year.
  • Manage memorial brick and bench program.
  • Cultivate, solicit and steward annual donors by phone, electronic communications, in-person visits, and events.
  • Document constituent activities in Raiser’s Edge.
  • Identify donors with major gift or planned giving potential. Introduce to gift officers and facilitate transitions to alternate giving levels.
  • Organize and facilitate, in collaboration with the communications team, annual appeals.
  • Manage Avow’s Grateful Families and Shining Stars programs including overseeing mailings, coordinating thank yous and other outreach to donors as well as outreach to staff when they are recognized.
  • Lead Avow’s internal employee giving program through cultivation, solicitation and stewardship activities directed at paid staff.
  • Direct and administer disaster fundraising efforts as needed.
  • Coordinate and lead all aspects of the annual peer-to-peer fundraising campaign including working with other fundraisers to solicit pre-campaign gift, collaborate with Communications Specialist to create collateral and social media posts, recruit peer fundraisers, train peer fundraisers and work with them throughout the campaign, organize pre-campaign and post campaign activities, etc.
  • Support strategic planning efforts, events, and giving initiatives of the team.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reporting on all annual fund activities.
  • Contribute content to newsletters, electronic correspondence and other mass communications as requested.
  • Participate in continuing education opportunities and industry associations that will promote the Avow brand and/or develop fundraising expertise.
  • All other duties as assigned.
