About The Position

Cape Eleuthera Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 1997 to support transformational educational experiences with the mission of leadership effecting change on the island of Eleuthera in the Bahamas. The Foundation’s Philadelphia-based (and remote) team raises funds to help young people realize their potential, explore academics outside of traditional classroom walls, gain perspective on cultures different from their own, and make a positive impact on their world. The Foundation is the main grantor of The Island School, which delivers unique educational journeys through the High School Semester and Summer Term programs, the Deep Creek Middle School, the Elementary Learning Center, and Community Engagement and Partnerships in conjunction with research and sustainable development work done at the Cape Eleuthera Institute, our research and innovation hub. We are reimagining what education is for, and redesigning how education is delivered. We are seeking a passionate, organized, and entrepreneurial professional to join our team as Annual Giving Manager. In this newly created role on our development team, reporting to the Assistant Director, you will oversee the planning and execution of annual fund initiatives within the framework of a four-year comprehensive campaign. Working with the Director of Leadership Giving and the Leadership Giving Officer, you will also manage donor stewardship and administrative processes that ensure donors are recognized and engaged. Responsibilities include coordinating gift acknowledgements, maintaining accurate donor records in Salesforce, managing incoming development office correspondence, and overseeing stewardship reporting, such as annual endowment reports. This role requires a detail-oriented and organized individual who can manage multiple projects while maintaining strong communication with donors and internal team members. This is a full-time position without supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

  • A keen understanding that a robust Annual Giving program creates a culture of philanthropy and is the foundation for all major fundraising
  • Proven record of managing an annual campaign
  • Familiarity with donor stewardship reporting and campaign analytics
  • Interest in building relationships with donors and strengthening philanthropic engagement
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in fundraising
  • A valid passport and the ability to travel frequently throughout the United States and occasionally in The Bahamas
  • Excellent interpersonal, writing, communications, and presentation skills
  • Excellent project management and follow-up skills
  • Organized and task-oriented with the ability to manage several projects simultaneously
  • Ability to lead projects independently and with creativity and enthusiasm
  • Exceptional attention to detail and deadlines
  • A high level of professionalism and integrity
  • Technologically proficient in Google Suite applications

  • Salesforce, or similar database experience, is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Create, execute, and oversee annual fund campaigns: Giving Day, CONCHtribution, Class Gift Campaigns with the Leadership Giving Officer, mid-year and end-of-year annual giving, and other Annual Fund initiatives throughout the year
  • Write creative and inspiring appeals, contribute to storytelling, and collaborate with the Communications & Marketing Supervisor on a social media plan to keep donors engaged and informed
  • Utilize the GiveCampus platform to create all campaigns and coordinate all gift entries into Salesforce
  • With the Assistant Director, implement a strategic plan for a comprehensive Annual Fund effort to grow revenue that includes donor journeys and diverse engagement strategies
  • Manage assigned portfolio (approximately 25 individuals) and develop, implement, and drive cultivation and solicitation strategies to secure annual fund gifts up to $25,000
  • Initiate or further relationships through proactive and strategic contact with prospects toward solicitation and closure
  • Complete 10-15 meetings per year with donors (by phone or Zoom)
  • Make face-to-face solicitations as appropriate
  • Involve additional staff or volunteers as needed
  • Work with the Assistant Director and the Alumni Relations Manager to cultivate new donors, retain existing donors, including alumni, and inspire them to move up the pipeline to major gifts.
  • Oversee prospect research on individual, foundation, and corporate donors and maintain donor records in Salesforce
  • Coordinate biannual pledge reminders and pledge agreements as needed
  • Attend quarterly Development and Alumni Committee meetings
  • Maintain an annual stewardship calendar and lead general donor stewardship efforts for all campaigns
  • Prepare and send annual endowment stewardship reports
  • With the Director of External Affairs, support the planning, compilation, and writing of the annual report
  • With the Assistant Director, maintain a weekly stewardship list for the Head of School and the Executive Director
  • Support annual fundraising events (receptions, small group dinners, celebrations) and alumni gatherings, with the Alumni Relations Manager
  • General support and coordination, if necessary, for on-island and stateside events throughout the year (Family Weekend, Conferences, Board Meetings, Reunions, Educators Conference, etc.)
