About The Position
This is a full time 40 hour a week position, with required weekend days. We have an exciting opportunity at our Cape Animal Care and Adoption Center in Centerville, MA for an Animal Welfare Specialist. Animal Welfare Specialists (AWS) are at the forefront of this mission, working directly with people and their pets to effect positive change in our community.
Requirements
- At least one year of experience in a customer service/client care position.
- Excellent judgment.
- Interpersonal skills.
- An eagerness to support the human-animal bond.
Nice To Haves
- Proficiency in Spanish.
Responsibilities
- Working hands-on with several species of animals, evaluating their physical and behavioral health and implementing training and medical plans to increase their adoptability and quality of life in the shelter.
- Facilitating adoptions by matchmaking animals with prospective adopters using a conversation-based approach with a goal of identifying the best possible outcome for the person and the animal.
- Assisting in the surrender of an animal in an empathetic and compassionate manner that is free from judgment.
