The County of Riverside is seeking candidates to fill Animal Services Supervisor positions throughout Riverside County. These positions will provide oversight to the Animal Care Team, consisting of 10-12 employees. The incumbent must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment with ever-changing priorities and staffing levels. The Animal Services Supervisor will plan for the basic to complex needs of the animals and community members. This includes animal intake, feeding, inventory, shelter care, exercise yards, adoptions, and potentially assisting medical teams with humane euthanasia. For community members, responsibilities include answering calls, responding to in-person and social media inquiries, handling emails, and de-escalation during crisis/emergency situations. Competitive candidates will have extensive job-related animal husbandry lead or supervisory experience. Chameleon Software or other integrated Shelter Case Management Systems is highly desired but not required. Experience in a public or non-profit animal control program or a closely related animal care field is also valuable. This position will be scheduled to work a 9/80 schedule, with hours potentially varying based on business needs, including weekends, holidays, and special events or emergencies. The Riverside County Department of Animal Services operates four shelters and values the dedication of its employees in serving animals and people.
