About The Position

Responsible for sales of all animal nutrition and feed products/services within an assigned territory, working closely with the Sales Manager and Sales Specialists to achieve marketing team goals. This role implements company goals and objectives to grow the animal nutrition business and develop profitable customer relationships. It also provides leadership for the development and implementation of animal nutrition training and feed team support needs, and assists in developing and implementing feed sales/marketing strategies that generate profitable sales. The specialist develops and implements innovative sales programs and pricing strategies, and participates in sales activities such as customer meetings and trade shows to stay informed about sales trends. A key responsibility is creating and managing whole farm proposals by providing value-added animal nutrition products, services, and recommendations. The role also expedites the resolution of customer problems and complaints, and coaches and trains other species specialists to ensure appropriate nutritional needs are met and customer satisfaction is increased. Maintaining accurate sales records and effective communication with sales management and related departments is crucial. The specialist must maintain current knowledge of product applications, technical services, market conditions, competitive activities, product pricing, advertising, and promotional trends. Developing vendor relationships and sharing information is also important to ensure the animal nutrition team has the necessary tools and training. Completing competitive analyses and assisting in strategy development to grow the animal nutrition business are key tasks. Identifying progressive customers and coordinating this information with other sales representatives is also part of the role. The specialist quotes prices, prepares sales contracts, promotes credit programs, and assists in establishing credit. All required reports must be completed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in agriculture, marketing, or other related discipline.
  • Minimum of 4 years animal nutrition selling experience.
  • Demonstrated GROWMARK core competencies including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making, and skill development.
  • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
  • Ability to travel independently and overnight.
  • Willingness to work hours beyond those considered “normal”.
  • Ability and willingness to participate in required training (e.g., GROWMARK policies, procedures, and position-related training).

  • Assisting in developing short and long-term strategies to grow the animal nutrition business.
  • Identifying progressive customers and coordinating the sharing of these lists with energy, agronomy, and grain sales representatives.
  • Quoting prices and preparing sales contracts for orders obtained.
  • Promoting the use of credit programs as a sales tool and helping to provide information to establish credit.
  • Completing all required reports.
  • Maintaining industry and university contacts to stay informed on developing trends and product introductions.
  • Creating and participating in presentations during customer meetings and trade shows.
  • Maintaining the assigned vehicle according to company standards.
  • Following GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures.
  • Performing all other duties as assigned.
