About The Position

The Arizona Department of Agriculture is actively recruiting for two (2) Animal Health Inspectors for our Animal Services Division. The inspectors will be responsible for inspection at the Southern Border and inspections in their assigned areas. Work hours are subject to change during summer hours to coincide with shipping. Under direction from the Supervising Livestock Officer, the successful candidates will enforce livestock and animal health surveillance at the Arizona/Mexico border pursuant to A.R.S. Title 3, Chapters 4, 11, 12 and 13 (approximately 125 statutory provisions) and A.A.C. Title 3, Chapter 2 (approximately 50 rules); perform administrative record keeping and prepare reports; maintain confidential working relationships with ASD managers, State Veterinarian and supervisors; and operate a state-owned vehicle, trailer, and other equipment. This position is available for remote work on a full-time basis within Arizona (including virtual office arrangements). Responsibilities

  • Monitor the health and proper identification of animals moving within the State
  • Monitor compliance with Beef Council fee
  • Handle money and make weekly deposits
  • Prepare and appropriately submit activity reports, departmental case reports, time sheets, travel claims and any other related reports in accordance with department regulations
  • Respond to any Foreign Animal Disease or pest and/or emerging animal disease responses
  • Other duties as assigned
