Animal Care is part of the production team at JAX and work requires attention to detail, working in a highly controlled clean room environment, fast paced that provides continuous physical movement.
Requirements
- Minimum of HS diploma or GED and prior work experience.
- Employment will require successful completion of references, background check and pre-employment physical.
- Candidates must be able to lift 25 pounds.
- Basic knowledge of computer skills preferred.
- Successful completion of Primary Animal Care Training and successful completion of the 90-day introductory period is required for advancement.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a fast paced, team-oriented environment.
- Open availability, including weekends and holidays may be required.
- OT is required as needed.
Responsibilities
- New team members undergo a 12-week paid training program with classroom and on-the-job training.
- Learn all aspects of mouse husbandry and animal science and genetics.
- Maintain JAX mice and monitor animal health and welfare.
- Maintain a sanitary environment.
- Prepare animals for shipping.
- Accurately record detailed and organized data.
