The Animal Care Technician provides daily husbandry, sanitation, welfare monitoring, documentation, and facility support within institutional research vivaria. This position supports animal care operations in accordance with standard operating procedures, veterinary direction, IACUC expectations, biosafety practices, and institutional policies. Duties include daily animal observations, cage changing, feeding and watering, room sanitation, cage wash support, environmental monitoring, supply preparation, accurate recordkeeping, and prompt communication of animal welfare, facility, or equipment concerns. The position requires attention to detail, reliability, strong communication skills, and a commitment to humane animal care in a regulated research environment. Regular weekend and holiday work is required to ensure continuous animal care and facility operations. The position may also require participation in after-hours coverage or emergency response as assigned. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
