About The Position

The Animal Care Attendant Level 3 is responsible for providing daily care and feeding of cats, dogs, small animals, and animals housed in the URI and canine hospital wards. This role ensures a high standard of care and humane treatment for all animals while strictly adhering to shelter policies, procedures, and safety protocols.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of six (6) months of relevant experience working with dogs and cats
• Passion for people, performance, and diversity (within the lens of animal welfare)
• Excellent communications skills (both verbal and written)
• Ability to work independently and in fast paced environments
• Comfortable handling animals of all species and temperaments

Responsibilities

• Provide daily feeding, cleaning, and care for cat, kitten, URI, dog, canine hospital, and small animal wards while maintaining cleanliness and animal welfare standards across all assigned housing areas.
• Communicate professionally and respectfully with volunteers and other departments regarding animal care, needs, and placement activities, including dog place-ups as required.
• Support laundry and dishwashing duties as required.
• Prepare and post cats, dogs, and small animals for adoption on the adoption gallery.
• Train and support Level 1 and level 2 Animal Care Attendants.
• Provide enrichment through socialization with cats, dogs (including walking), and small animals, as well as in-kennel activities, as required.
• Enter animal care requests as needed.
• Complete feeding and cleaning record sheets for each animal.
