About The Position

Maui Humane Society is an open-air animal shelter serving cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, turtles, and other animals. The organization provides veterinary and routine care, helps surrendered animals find new homes, and offers humane law enforcement, education and outreach, pet-retention programs, and low-cost spay and neuter surgeries.

The Animal Adoptions Counselor coordinates the transition of animals from the shelter to their forever homes. Working with a team and receiving training, the counselor matches shelter animals with homes, provides a positive community experience throughout the adoption process, processes data and payments in shelter software, and provides follow-up support and resources to adopters as needed.

Requirements

• Strong customer service and communication skills, both externally and internally.
• High comfort in interacting with animals.
• Ability to use multiple computer programs efficiently.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in animal welfare.
• Experience with shelter software; PetPoint is preferred.
