About The Position

Provides care to patients in an organized and systematic manner according to institutional policy in keeping with patient safety principles. Prepares all equipment, including but not limited to ultrasound, nerve stimulator, block needle, gloves, chloroprepetch. Draws up local anesthetic for nerve block under the direction of the anesthesiologist. Confirms procedure, site and consent with patient. Communicates this to the nurse and anesthesiologist. Place monitors on patient during procedure. Assist anesthesiologist during block, including administering local anesthetic under the direction of the anesthesiologist. Assures all patients are correctly identified prior to providing and/or documenting care Documents in a clear and legible manner Recognizes and integrates patient special needs and individualizes care Maintains a therapeutic relationship with patients, family and significant others while providing care Communicates & provides care consistent with age & developmental needs of patient, as well as the cultural and spiritual needs of the patient. Communicates change in patients condition to all applicable individuals; documents appropriately Adheres to infection control standards specific to patient care Avoids wearing artificial nails, extenders or chipped nail polish and keeps natural nails less than one quarter of an inch long. Refers ethical concerns to appropriate resources. Completes work within a predetermined time frame. Promotes and maintains a safe, clean and orderly environment. Maintains proficiency with department specific equipment troubleshoots and reports malfunctions promptly. Participates in department based activities. Attends at least 80% of scheduled monthly staff meetings. Uses proper body mechanics during all activities and duties. Maintains proficiency with Anesthesia equipment, trouble shoots and reports malfunctions: Attends all product/equipment safety recalls. Maintains calibration and inspection of Anesthesia machines. Maintains inspection and service records on equipment and machines. When necessary, cleans all equipment and instruments prior to and after use. Participates in the evaluation of new supplies, equipment and instruments. Acts as liaison with equipment and supply vendors F acilitates with vendors the trialing of new equipment Provides a safe and therapeutic environment for patients: Provides decontamination services for carts, blades, fiber optics and Anesthesia machines. Assists in transfer and positioning of patients as requested. Maintains inventory of Anesthesia equipment and supplies. Sets daily par levels Checks disposable equipment inventory in department for par levels daily Checks levels of disposable equipment inventory daily and restocks as necessary Anticipates supply needs based on volumes and delayed deliveries Performs re-stocking tasks Initiates requisitions to order equipment and inventory in order to ensure that par levels are maintained Orders some supplies and medications. Assist Anesthesiologist during Anesthio Emergency with: Retrieving meds and equipment. Ensuring communication between Anesthesiologist and Medical Director. Transporting patient when necessary. Acts as a patient advocate and uphold patient rights. Troubleshoots and performs minor repairs independently or in conjunction with service technicians. Anticipates need, selects equipment and supplies in an organized and timely manner. Collaborates in room preparation. Other job duties as required.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate/GED required.
  • Minimum 0-1 years of work experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail required.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments, and adjust priorities based on changing situations.
  • Experience with Standard Office Equipment (Phone, Fax, Copy Machine, Scanner, Email/Voice Mail) preferred.
  • Experience with Standard Office Technology in a Window based environment preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree preferred.
  • 2-4 years preferred.
