About The Position

Nova Scotia Health is seeking locum Anesthesiologists to support the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre (CRHCC) in Amherst, Nova Scotia, and the Colchester East Hants Health Care Centre (CEHHC) in Truro, Nova Scotia. These opportunities involve providing a full scope of practice as an anesthesiologist to care for patients in the Northern Zone. The role includes coverage for general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, and ENT at CRHHC, and general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, and urology at CEHHC. Participating in call shifts is also a responsibility. The physician will report to the Zone Department Head of Anesthesia for professional responsibilities and quality of practice, operating within the Medical Staff Bylaws of the Nova Scotia Health Authority.

Requirements

• Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
• Eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC)
• Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)

Responsibilities

• Work a full scope of practice as an anesthesiologist to provide care to the patients of Northern Zone
• Provide surgical services coverage at CRHHC including: general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, ENT
• Provide surgical services coverage at CEHHC including: general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, urology
• Participate in call shifts

Benefits

• Minimum daily income guarantee of $1,600 for specialists ($800 for half-day)
• Additional earnings if shadow billings exceed the guaranteed amount
• Reimbursement for travel expenses, including kilometrage, per diems, accommodations (up to $300 per night), and airfare (up to $1,500)
• Reimbursement for travel time up to 10 hours per week
• Licensing fees for CPSNS are covered
• Locum physicians may claim Facility On Call fees under specific conditions
