About The Position

We are seeking an Anesthesiologist to support the Veteran community in the Albany, NY area. This position is open to all candidates, including Locum or Traveling professionals. The role involves direct patient care approximately 99.5% of the time, providing comprehensive clinical anesthesiology services for various surgical procedures and in critical care settings. Administrative duties account for approximately 0.5% of the time.

Requirements

Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently, without sponsorship.
Graduate of an accredited medical school with an MD or DO degree.
Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Board Certified /Board Eligible by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA).
Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
Completion of credentialing and onboarding requirements consistent with VA medical staff processes.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience with the VA is a plus.

Responsibilities

Provide clinical Anesthesiology services.
Provide comprehensive clinical anesthesiology services including patients undergoing cardiac surgery, orthopedic joint replacement, and major vascular, thoracic, neurosurgical, plastic, ENT, urologic and ophthalmologic operations.
Provide clinical care of patients undergoing electroconvulsive therapy and diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the cardiac catheterization laboratory, electrophysiology, gastrointestinal and radiological suites.
Provide coverage as needed for patients in the surgical intensive care, short stay unit, acute pain management services, diagnostic trans esophageal echocardiography for medical and surgical patients, and emergency airway management.
Provide consultative services at the patient’s bedside if the patient is admitted; otherwise participate in e-consults.
Follow all established medication policies and procedures.
