About The Position

Nova Scotia Health is seeking locum Anesthesiologists to support the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre (CRHCC) in Amherst, Nova Scotia, and Aberdeen Regional Hospital in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. Opportunities are available for coverage in September, October, and November at both locations. This role involves working a full scope of practice as an anesthesiologist to provide care to patients in the Northern Zone.

Requirements

• Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
• Eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC)
• Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)

• Special interest in intensive care and/or pain management

Responsibilities

• Work a full scope of practice as an anesthesiologist to provide care to the patients of Northern Zone
• Provide surgical services at CRHHC including: general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, ENT
• Provide surgical services at CEHHC including: general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, urology
• Participate in call shifts
• Be responsible to the Zone Department Head of Anesthesia for professional responsibilities and quality of practice, and operate within the Medical Staff Bylaws of the Nova Scotia Health Authority

Benefits

• Minimum daily income guarantee of $1,600 for specialists ($800 for half-day)
• Additional earnings if shadow billings exceed the guarantee
• Reimbursement for travel expenses, including kilometrage, per diems, accommodations (up to $300 per night), and airfare (up to $1,500)
• Reimbursement for travel time up to 10 hours per week
• Licensing fees for CPSNS are covered
• Locum physicians may claim Facility On Call fees under specific conditions
