About The Position

Trained to provide pain relief and maintenance or restoration of a stable condition during and immediately following an operation or an obstetric or diagnostic procedure. Also provides medical management and consultation in pain management and critical care medicine. Anesthesiologists diagnose and treat acute, longstanding and cancer pain problems; diagnose and treat patients with critical illnesses or severe injuries; perform direct resuscitation in the care of patients with cardiac or respiratory emergencies, including the need for artificial ventilation; and supervise post anesthesia recovery. This opportunity offers an outstanding case and patient mix at a Level I Trauma Center, ideal for anesthesiologists seeking broad clinical exposure in a collaborative academic environment. Coverage includes nearly all case types, excluding heart/lung transplants and burn cases. Support for 13 non-OR anesthesia locations, including: GI/Pulmonology, Cath/EP Lab, Interventional Radiology, Obstetrics, MRI. The facility has 31 operating rooms, is a Designated Comprehensive Stroke Center, and is physically connected to Geisinger Janet Weis Children’s Hospital. Additional subspecialty compensation is available for Pediatric and Cardiac teams.
