About The Position

This role is responsible for coordinating and providing anesthesia supplies, medications, and equipment effectively, before and during medical procedures. The Anesthesia Technician provides a safe, efficient environment for the surgical patient, demonstrating accordance with ethical and legal responsibilities. They are available to respond in an emergency and within their scope, with careful and thoughtful responses to a wide variety of requests in a stressed and rushed situation by providing anesthesia supplies and equipment as needed. The role also involves assisting in the preparation of equipment and potentially medications, assisting with orders, stocking inventory, testing, and maintaining anesthesia equipment. Responsibilities include cleaning and disinfecting reusable equipment, reporting malfunctioning equipment, and potentially removing special and reusable materials after cases, ensuring the turnaround of the room in accordance with infection control policies and procedures. The technician will also maintain a clean working environment, surgical rooms, and assist in clerical duties as needed within the unit, including incoming phone calls.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or obtained within 60 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • One year experience in a health care environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and strong computer skills helpful.

  • Assists in the preparation of equipment as well as may assist with medications when applicable.
  • Assists with orders, stocking inventory, tests and maintaining anesthesia equipment.
  • Responsible to clean and disinfect reusable equipment.
  • Report malfunctioning equipment to appropriate personnel.
  • May also be delegated to remove all special and reusable material after cases and responsible for the turnaround of the room in accordance with infection control policies and procedures.
  • Maintain clean working environment, surgical rooms, and assist in clerical duties as needed within the unit, including incoming phone calls.
  • Stock anesthesia supplies and clean equipment.
