About The Position

This position is in the operating room environment and is responsible for stocking anesthesia supplies and cleaning equipment. The Anesthesia Technician coordinates and provides anesthesia supplies, medications, and equipment effectively, before and during medical procedures. They provide a safe, efficient environment for the surgical patient, demonstrating accordance with ethical and legal responsibilities. The role requires availability for emergencies and thoughtful responses to requests in stressed situations by providing anesthesia supplies and equipment as needed. Responsibilities include assisting in the preparation of equipment and potentially medications, ordering, stocking inventory, testing, and maintaining anesthesia equipment. The technician will clean and disinfect reusable equipment, report malfunctioning equipment, and may be responsible for removing special and reusable materials after cases, ensuring room turnaround in accordance with infection control policies. Maintaining a clean working environment, surgical rooms, and assisting with clerical duties, including answering phone calls, are also part of the role.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or obtained within 60 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

One year experience in a health care environment preferred.
Knowledge of medical terminology helpful.
Strong computer skills helpful.

Responsibilities

Coordinates and provides anesthesia supplies, medications, and equipment effectively, before and during medical procedures.
Provides a safe, efficient environment for the surgical patient.
Responds in an emergency and within their scope to provide anesthesia supplies and equipment as needed.
Assists in the preparation of equipment and may assist with medications.
Assists with orders, stocking inventory, tests, and maintaining anesthesia equipment.
Cleans and disinfects reusable equipment.
Reports malfunctioning equipment to appropriate personnel.
May be delegated to remove all special and reusable material after cases and responsible for the turnaround of the room in accordance with infection control policies and procedures.
Maintains a clean working environment and surgical rooms.
Assists in clerical duties as needed within the unit, including incoming phone calls.
Stocks anesthesia supplies.
Cleans equipment.
