Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or obtained within 60 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • One year experience in a health care environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and strong computer skills helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and provides anesthesia supplies, medications and equipment effectively, before and during medical procedures.
  • Provides a safe, efficient environment for the surgical patient.
  • Demonstrates accordance with ethical and legal responsibilities.
  • Available to respond in an emergency and within their scope, with careful and thoughtful responses to a wide variety of requests in a stressed and rushed situation by providing anesthesia supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Assists in the preparation of equipment as well as may assist with medications when applicable.
  • Assists with orders, stocking inventory, tests and maintaining anesthesia equipment.
  • Will be responsible to clean and disinfect reusable equipment as well as be expected to report malfunctioning equipment to appropriate personnel.
  • May also be delegated to remove all special and reusable material after cases and responsible for the turnaround of the room in accordance with infection control policies and procedures.
  • Maintain clean working environment, surgical rooms, and assist in clerical duties as needed within the unit, including incoming phone calls.
