Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited Anesthesia Technology program or Two years of related work experience as an Anesthesia Technician or other health care provider (e.g. LPN, EMT, etc.) that would demonstrate possession of the requisite job knowledge/abilities.
  • Current healthcare provider American Heart Association BLS certification required.
  • If classified as Anesthesia Tech-Cert, certification as an Anesthesia Technician through the American Society of Anesthesia Technicians and Technologists (ASATT) is required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide critical support in the safe and efficient administration of anesthesia, assisting providers with equipment and supplies for diverse surgical and non-surgical cases.
  • Prepare and maintain anesthesia equipment, supplies, and medications before, during, and after cases.
  • Perform complex procedures under direction (e.g., setting up and assisting with line placement, intubation, extubation).
  • Manage supply inventory, room turnover, and patient positioning/transport.
  • Provide safe, efficient, cost-effective anesthesia care and support for routine and complex medical procedures by assisting in the preparation and maintenance of patient monitoring devices and anesthesia delivery systems before and during anesthesia.
  • Assist the anesthesiologist/anesthetist by operating and maintaining complex equipment needed in major surgical procedures.
  • Prepare, calibrate, and verify the functionality of anesthesia equipment, applying consistent infection control principles and Standard Precautions before, during, and after procedures.
  • Stock anesthesia supplies across all operating locations (including specialized carts and airway bags).
  • Perform point-of-contact clinical laboratory services while maintaining records per regulatory standards.
  • Clean, sterilize, assemble, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain all anesthesia-related equipment to ensure functionality and safety.
  • Stock and manage anesthesia supplies across all anesthetizing locations to ensure efficient, cost-effective care.
  • Apply specialized knowledge of anesthesia equipment to ensure proper operation, decontamination, and patient safety within the scope of licensure.
