About The Position

The Anesthesia Technician coordinates and provides anesthesia supplies, medications, and equipment before and during medical procedures. The role helps maintain a safe and efficient environment for surgical patients and responds to requests and emergencies within the position’s scope, including in stressful, fast-paced situations. Duties include preparing equipment, assisting with medications when applicable, handling orders and inventory, testing and maintaining anesthesia equipment, and reporting equipment malfunctions. The technician cleans and disinfects reusable equipment, may remove materials after cases, and helps turn over rooms according to infection control policies and procedures. The role also involves maintaining clean work and surgical areas and assisting with unit clerical duties, including incoming phone calls. The position works weekdays with occasional weekends in the operating room environment.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, or obtain it within 60 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

One year of experience in a health care environment.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Strong computer skills.

Responsibilities

Assist with preparing equipment and, when applicable, medications.
Assist with orders and stock inventory.
Test and maintain anesthesia equipment and report malfunctions to appropriate personnel.
Clean and disinfect reusable equipment.
Remove special and reusable materials after cases when delegated and help turn over rooms according to infection control policies and procedures.
Maintain clean work and surgical environments.
Assist with clerical duties within the unit, including answering incoming phone calls.
