Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum one year of experience as an anesthesia technician
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certification

Nice To Haves

  • Two to three years' experience, as an anesthesia technician
  • Certification by the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians (ASATT)

Responsibilities

  • Provides approved assistance to Anesthesiologists / CRNA’s during the induction, maintenance and emergence from Anesthesia.
  • Assists the anesthesiologists/ CRNA’s with the placement of regional anesthetics and invasive monitoring devices.
  • Maintains on a daily and case to case basis, the equipment and supplies necessary to provide quality and cost effective anesthesia care to all patients cared for by the Anesthesia Department.
  • Applies principles of infection control and safety, including proper handling, cleaning, sterilizing and/or disposal of equipment or supplies used in regular and contaminated cases.
  • Sets up sterile equipment, such as intravenous, central venous, arterial and pulmonary artery catheters using sterile technique.
  • Sets up, operates, and disassembles cell saver equipment and rapid infuser devices as assigned.
  • Performs all standard procedural checks on equipment; reports any malfunctioning equipment to supervisor.
  • Ensures the sterility and cleanliness of specialized equipment, including TEE’s, fiber optic scopes and LMA’s.
  • Ensures workroom areas are clean and orderly before, during and after each shift.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.
