About The Position

The NAPA Anesthesia RN is responsible for performing comprehensive pre-procedure assessments and communicating with perioperative staff to ensure patient safety and coordination of care for each patient receiving anesthesia. This role involves preparing and assisting with the administration of regional anesthesia throughout perioperative settings.

Requirements

  • Maintain and possess a North Carolina RN License.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications.
  • Must be available to work 40 hours weekly Monday to Friday (Daytime).
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Performing comprehensive pre-procedure assessments
  • Communicating with perioperative staff to ensure patient safety and coordination of care
  • Preparing and assisting with the administration of regional anesthesia
  • Generating a concise picture of the patient’s health using the EMR for surgical history, past medical history, and current health status.
  • Conducting thorough preprocedural assessments including review of systems, medical history, diagnostics, medications, recent labs, and prior anesthesia experiences.
  • Coordinating with Assessment RNs, perioperative RN staff, Surgical Navigation Center staff, and anesthesiologists.
  • Identifying and communicating potential patient risks or contraindications to the anesthesia team.
  • Coordinating with anesthesiologist before block to verify requests, medications, and equipment.
  • Coordinating with nursing staff for preprocedural blocks and OR staff/CRNA for post-induction blocks.
  • Providing required equipment and medications for anesthesia block.
  • Preparing and positioning patients for anesthesia block.
  • Assisting anesthesiologist during regional block placement.
  • Continuously assessing patient response before, during, and after block placement.
  • Recognizing and responding to complications (LAST, oversedation, vital sign changes, etc.).
  • Adhering to safety protocols, infection control standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Documenting assessments, interventions, medications, and patient responses in the EMR.
