The Anesthesia Care Nurse (ACN) coordinates anesthesia care on Labor and Delivery (L&D), serving as a liaison between labor nurses and anesthesiologists. The role manages labor epidurals, including assisting with placement, dosing, and troubleshooting. The ACN also assists the anesthesiologist with spinal and general anesthesia in the operating room for cesarean sections and other obstetrical procedures. The ACN evaluates obstetrical patients upon admission and provides anesthesia-related education throughout the labor and delivery experience. The unit includes 28 private birthing suites, an 11-bed triage area, three operating room suites, and five recovery bays. Two core scheduling options are available: Core 1 works Friday and Saturday in Week 1, Wednesday and Thursday in Weeks 2 and 3; Core 2 works Sunday and Monday in Week 1, Wednesday and Thursday in Week 2, and Friday and Saturday in Week 3. The listed hours are 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., with 24 scheduled hours per week and every third weekend.
