About The Position

WMTW-TV, the ABC affiliate in Westbrook, Maine, is seeking an Anchor/Reporter who can bring live-reporting energy to the anchor desk and also report from the field. The role involves delivering credible, poised, and engaging coverage; pursuing exclusive stories; asking tough questions and holding those in power accountable; completing live shots; and mentoring producers and reporters. The Anchor/Reporter writes and edits scripts with viewer interaction in mind, develops sources, and works efficiently under tight deadlines. The position reports to the News Director. The salary range is $70,000–$87,000.

Requirements

At least 2 years of anchor experience.
At least 2 years of reporting experience.
A demo reel that is indicative of everyday work.
Ability to connect with viewers, in addition to reporting skills.
Ability to operate mobile transmission devices and use the latest technology.
Ability to work in all weather conditions and varied shifts, including overnights and weekends.
Ability to carry up to 50 pounds.
Valid driver's license and clear driving record.
Unwavering journalistic integrity and ethical standards.
Ability to manage the stresses and pressures of time-sensitive newscast production.

Responsibilities

Deliver scripted and ad-lib material with professionalism, personality, and purpose.
Work with and guide reporters and producers in newscast production.
Plan, gather, and assemble stories for day-of news or special project assignments.
Coordinate with news managers and producers to develop stories with depth, unique enterprise angles, and exclusive content.
Develop a network of sources who provide tips, early access to information, and opportunities to break significant stories.
Appear on behalf of the station at public events.
Contribute pictures, video, and text updates to mobile platforms throughout the day.
Work on multiple stories and projects while meeting all deadlines.
Summarize information into easy-to-understand components.
Write and edit scripts with viewer interaction in mind.
Complete live shots and report from the field.
Help mentor producers and reporters.
