About The Position
WJCL-TV, the ABC affiliate in Savannah, Georgia, is seeking a strong, take-charge Reporter Anchor who can create story ideas, conduct informed interviews, develop sources, and build compelling live shots. The role emphasizes enterprise reporting and finding stories that lead newscasts. The reporter should demonstrate credibility, poise, and personality, be willing to work in the field and ask tough questions, and be able to break significant stories. The ideal candidate is versatile, enterprising, fast, efficient, effective under tight deadlines, skilled at developing sources, and strong in live reporting. This role reports to the News Director. In-person attendance is required.
Requirements
- Professional or college reporting experience.
- Experience with enterprise reporting and the ability to uncover details.
- A demo reel indicative of everyday work.
- Ability to write clear, correct, compelling copy that supports gathered images.
- Ability to operate mobile transmission devices and use the latest technology.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Unwavering journalistic integrity and ethical standards.
- Valid driver's license and clear driving record.
- Ability to work varied shifts, including overnights and weekends.
- Ability to handle the stresses and pressures of time-sensitive newscast production.
- In-person attendance is required.

Responsibilities
- Plan, gather, and assemble stories for day-of news or special project assignments.
- Gather and edit compelling video and sound, with or without a photographer.
- Coordinate with news managers and producers to develop stories with enterprise angles and exclusive content that go beyond surface details.
- Develop a network of sources who provide tips and early access to information and help the reporter break significant stories.
- Contribute pictures, video, and text updates to mobile platforms throughout the day.
- Work on multiple stories and projects at once and meet deadlines under extraordinary pressure.
- Maintain unwavering journalistic integrity and ethical standards.
