About The Position

The Anatomy Technician provides essential support to the educational mission of the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) by assisting with the anatomy laboratory operations offering comprehensive support to anatomy instructors and students throughout the curriculum. While this position has a primary focus on anatomy, it also requires active collaboration across multiple courses and instructional teams. This position requires a highly organized, detail-oriented individual with strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional environment. The Anatomy Technician is responsible for the development and maintenance of teaching specimens, assisting with laboratory instruction, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and coordinating with various university units to support instructional needs beyond anatomy. Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in animal husbandry, healthcare, or an anatomy lab or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Valid Driver's License Required.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or equivalent in relevant field.
  • Over 3 years of relevant work experience in animal husbandry and healthcare.
  • Practical experience, including handling, with the following species: dogs, cats, horses, cattle, and small ruminants.
  • Teaching experience.
  • Experience in veterinary anatomy (dissections) or surgery skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain teaching specimens including cadaver and ex-situ specimen inventory, prosections, skeletal specimens, and models.
  • Assist the anatomy team (faculty and anatomy facilitator) in the set-up of gross anatomy labs, exams, and demonstrations.
  • Anticipate needs and coordinate specimens with anatomy team for upcoming courses and college/club events.
  • Provide high quality support to the anatomy team and the students in CVM.
  • Under the direction of the anatomy instructors, support daily anatomy laboratory operations, by managing inventory, procuring supplies, handling and transporting specimens, maintaining equipment, and ensuring lab and storage cleanliness.
  • Ensure strict adherence to laboratory safety compliance protocols.
  • Assist with class facilitation, including operation of classroom technology and provide support for live animal handling and clinical skills labs as required for instructional purposes.
  • Coordinate with units within the University that provide oversight to ensure the implementation of federal, state, local, and University of Arizona regulations and policies including the Research Laboratory & Safety Services (RLSS), the Biosafety Program, the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, and central facilities management.
  • Work closely with other teams within the CVM to provide seamless support.
