About The Position

The Anatomy & Physiology-Biology Instructor provides college-level instruction in Human Anatomy and Physiology and related biological sciences courses. The instructor will teach lecture and laboratory courses in both on-campus and online formats and support student learning in accordance with college and departmental requirements. The primary teaching responsibilities will be for Anatomy & Physiology courses: BSC 2085, BSC 2085L, BSC 2086, BSC 2086L. SJR State is a public college located in beautiful northeast Florida along the shores of the St. Johns River. With three campuses in Clay, Putnam, and St. Johns counties, SJR State serves nearly 10,000 students each year from among a population base of 600,000 in one of the fastest-growing areas of the country. Known for its natural beauty and quality of life, SJR State’s service area includes St. Augustine, the nation’s oldest city; Palatka, the “Gem City of the St. Johns;” and Orange Park, with roots going back to the Spanish period in Florida history.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a qualifying field; or a master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in any combination of qualifying fields; or a medical degree such as M.D., D.O., D.P.M., or D.V.M.
  • Qualifying fields include coursework in anatomy and physiology or biomedical science/biomedical engineering.
  • College-level experience teaching Anatomy and Physiology or closely related courses required.
  • Must be willing to teach lectures and labs both on campus and online.
  • Faculty teaching online must complete distance learning training during their first semester of employment.
  • Must successfully complete employment/reference verification and a background check.
  • Applicants should upload the following documents prior to submitting their application: (1) transcripts from all colleges attended; (2) a curriculum vitae that includes the institutions where you have worked and the courses you have taught; (3) a syllabus from a relevant course recently taught; (4) a sample exam from a relevant course recently taught; (5) two letters of recommendation; and (6) a letter to the search committee describing your teaching experience.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, biology, and related biological sciences.
  • Ability to effectively teach college-level lecture and laboratory courses.
  • Ability to communicate scientific concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to teach in both on-campus and online formats.
  • Ability to effectively prepare and assess student learning.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned Anatomy and Physiology and other departmental courses as needed.
  • Provide lecture and laboratory instruction in on-campus and online formats.
  • Prepare and deliver course content, assessments, and laboratory activities appropriate to assigned courses.
  • Complete required distance learning training during the first semester of employment when teaching online.
  • Support student learning and achievement in assigned courses.
  • Maintain appropriate instructional standards for lecture, laboratory, and online courses.
  • Perform other faculty responsibilities associated with assigned courses and departmental needs.
