About The Position

Cenovus Toledo Refinery is now looking to hire multiple Analyzer Technicians that will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and installing analyzers and analyzer systems. This role works closely with the Analyzer Lead Supervisor as well as the Refinery Process Analyzer Engineer to troubleshoot problems that require technical expertise and experience. The focus will be on daily maintenance of process analyzers and continuous emission monitoring systems (CEMS). The duties for this role will be performed in an outdoor process facility under the direction of the Maintenance Department. This position will be expected to document troubleshooting and repair efforts, upload documents and data into CMMS and other databases, perform field walkdowns for scope review, planning support and point of work risk assessments. The Analyzer Technician is also responsible for callouts for analyzer maintenance and must be willing to work overtime as needed.

Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the US
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Valid drivers license required
  • Journeyman Instrument Technician (I&C) Card or equivalent in a closely related discipline, or 5+ years industrial Analyzer Technician experience, or an Associate's degree in a related field with 3+ years of industrial Analyzer Technician experience, or a Bachelor's degree in a related field with 1+ years of industrial Analyzer Technician experience required
  • Experience with gas chromatography, tunable diode lasers, infrared and UV spectroscopy, water quality analysis, opacity, combustion gases and O2 analysis
  • Ability to work at heights
  • Perform physically active job tasks, involving year-round outdoor work in all types of weather

Nice To Haves

  • ISA or NCCER certification as an instrument technician preferred
  • Must obtain Gas Chromatograph certification within 1 year

Responsibilities

  • Make daily rounds and maintain process analyzers at optimum performance; calibrate process analyzers and troubleshoot problems
  • Communicate and cooperate with all operating departments and unit superintendents to safely maintain analyzers without interrupting operations
  • Seek technical assistance, when necessary, both within the refinery and from the analyzer technical support team
  • Maintain sample systems at optimum performance, troubleshooting and resolving sample system problems
  • Perform daily preventative maintenance and calibration drift assessments on CEMS
  • Communicate and cooperate with the environmental group and Analyzer Engineer to troubleshoot and resolve CEMS problems
  • Practice safe work practices with an understanding on NEC and NFPA 70
  • Document troubleshooting and repair efforts
  • Upload documents and data into CMMS and other databases
  • Perform field walkdowns for scope review, planning support and point of work risk assessments
  • Be available for callouts for analyzer maintenance
  • Work overtime as needed
