About The Position

Cloaked is seeking an Analytics Engineer to own its semantic layer: the governed set of metrics, entities, and relationships that supports company dashboards, self-serve analysis, and AI-driven answers. The role ensures that metrics have consistent meanings across users and tools. It is a hands-on builder position, translating ambiguous business questions into durable, tested definitions that people and AI agents can rely on, in partnership with the Data team and stakeholders across Product, Growth, Finance, and CX.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in analytics engineering, BI engineering, or a closely related role.
  • Strong SQL skills and solid dimensional data modeling skills.
  • Hands-on experience building semantic models using a tool such as Looker (LookML), Omni, dbt Semantic Layer, or Cube.
  • Experience with dbt or a similar transformation framework, Git-based workflows, and code review.
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms such as AWS/Athena, Snowflake, or BigQuery.
  • Fluent use of AI tools such as Claude or ChatGPT to work efficiently, and interest in structuring data for direct querying by AI agents.
  • Clear communication skills and comfort pushing back on vague metrics until they are well defined.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building semantic models for LLM-driven analytics.
  • Experience at a startup or growth-stage company.
  • Care and respect for customers' privacy.
  • A value-add mindset and focus on delivering insights and value to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain the semantic layer, including metric definitions, dimensions, joins, and entity relationships across product, subscription, and lifecycle data.
  • Build and maintain BI artifacts, including models, explores, and dashboards, on top of the semantic layer for teams across the company.
  • Build and curate certified metrics and queries for AI-assisted, natural-language data querying, and improve answer accuracy over time.
  • Partner with stakeholders to resolve conflicting metric definitions and document the agreed source of truth.
  • Write clean, tested, version-controlled SQL and transformation code with data quality checks and clear documentation.
  • Work closely with data engineering on upstream models and with analysts on how the semantic layer is used.

Benefits

  • Above-market-rate pay and equity, with compensation comprising salary, bonus, and equity.
  • For full-time US employees, medical, dental, and vision coverage, with Cloaked covering the majority of employee premiums.
  • Company-paid basic life insurance.

  • Paid leave for new parents, including birth, adoption, or foster placement.
  • Monthly wellness and meals stipend, which can be used for physical, mental, or emotional care, plus lunch and coffee during the workday.
  • Unlimited professional development fund and opportunities for career and personal growth.
  • Encouragement to attend conferences and industry events.
  • Team outings and social events.
  • NYC office amenities, including two kitchens with drinks, snacks, and other refreshments.
