Cortez-Assay Lab Frontline Supervisor (5/4 schedule)
About The Position
Nevada Gold Mines is seeking an Analytical Laboratory Supervisor for its Cortez operations. The role oversees the assay laboratory crew’s safe production, environmental compliance, and the quality of reported analytical work. It includes laboratory QA/QC and instrumentation oversight, technical support for laboratory technicians, workforce and administrative responsibilities, and control of costs in accordance with the annual budget. The position requires prioritizing a large workload to meet client expectations and promoting a safe working environment, procedures, and culture.
Requirements
- Five to ten years of laboratory operations experience.
- Strong troubleshooting skills or familiarity with laboratory instrumentation such as ICP, XRF, Leco, and AAS.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Project, and Outlook.
Nice To Haves
- Five to ten years of supervisor experience.
- Knowledge of bullion approval processes.
- Experience with Labware.
Responsibilities
- Perform QA/QC functions for daily laboratory operations.
- Collect, compile, and analyze large sets of QA/QC analytical data and draw useful conclusions from the datasets.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize laboratory instrumentation.
- Research and purchase new laboratory instrumentation.
- Maintain service contracts and oversee preventative maintenance on instrumentation.
- Supervise vendor field service engineers during service visits and ensure their safety.
- Support laboratory technicians with chemistry and laboratory technical knowledge.
- Ensure the assay lab crew’s safe production, environmental compliance, and quality of reported analytical work.
- Manage OTL entry and approval, manager self-service, work requests and orders, move orders, employee training record updates, status upgrades, and employee performance reviews.
- Control costs to comply with the annual budget.
- Prioritize and reprioritize a large workload as needed to meet client expectations.
- Promote a safe working environment, procedures, and culture.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
